These intricately designed, ornamental-stemmed goblets are currently found in Murano's historic glass museum, originally created for private and museum collections in England and European countries. Known as tipetti, they were specially selected by La DoubleJ founder J.J. Martin and brought to life by Salviati, who have been keeping alive the rarefied art of artisanal glassmaking on the Venetian island of Murano since 1859. They are also the last people on earth who are capable of these historic, time-consuming and rare techniques.
THE ZIG ZAG goblet is particularly technically advanced: made in crystal and smoked glass, it features a baluster base with a double coiled zigzag decorative edging known as morisa, finished with aquamarine pearls; a crystal morisa joins the blown glass stem to the pendant, composed of a twisted reed of yellow striped glass enclosing a bulb of blown crystal. It retains all the imperfections of hand made glass: no two pieces are the same and bubbles and bumps are meant to be there. Use as a special occasion water or wine glass, votive candle holder or pride-of-place on your shelf, but take care: they're very delicate!
