Eva Geraldine Fontanelli is master of the mix-up and the fashion world’s foremost purveyor of the high-low aesthetic. The style sage has even given her signature approach a catchy title — we love one of those at La DoubleJ — Couture-A-Porter. Genius! Aside from wanting to steal her ability to conjure up clever slogans, we’re so head over heels for the Milan-based editor and stylist that we’ve got half a mind to swipe her coveted closet as well. Luckily for her, we had her raid ours this time. We invited Fontanelli and her proper English gentleman companion, George the dog (the canine anglophile only speaks in English with the French-Italian Fontanelli) over for a shakedown of the La DoubleJ archives for the latest edition of our Vintage Wars.

Let the Vintage Wars begin!

La DoubleJ Pop Tulipani Big Ball Skirt

Fontanelli’s inspiration for this look was a bit of city mouse and country mouse. “The 1970s sequin top is very cosmopolitan matched with La DoubleJ Pop Tulipani Big Ball skirt and Pesciolini Boy Shirt,” cites Fontanelli. The cowboy hat, vintage embroidered western shirt and La DoubleJ Batik Boy Shirt? A bit more self-explanatory. And, of course, the fabulous Fontanelli would use a vintage 2000s Louis Vuitton handbag as a holster — she’s all set for a showdown.

La DoubleJ Kaleidoscope Giallo Curly Swing Dress

This look is straight out of Casablanca. La DoubleJ’s Kaleidoscope Giallo Curly Swing Dress looks right at home in both a swinging club — when paired with a vintage Chanel tweed jacket and 1960’s Gucci suede handbag — or the winding alleys of a Moroccan souk in a vintage Velveteen tapestry embroidered vest. Here’s looking at you, Eva.

La DoubleJ Boxy Tropicale Boxy T-Shirt

George got dressed up for a bit of sun and sand in his Tropicale print scarf for this look — we think an oversized sombrero is definitely a go-to accessory for him. Eva superbly styles our Tropicale Boxy T-shirt with slouchy trousers and a vintage Missoni silk fringed top and a 1980s Hermès terry cloth jacket. Come evening time, matching our 1970s Pierre Cardin necklace with a sequin skirt is perfect to take you from morning to night at a five-star resort — she’s got us dreaming of cocktails and coconuts!

1960s Vintage Leather Top and Skirt Set

Eva Geraldine Fontanelli plays good-cop bad-cop in this cooler-than-hell leather heavy look. She pairs a gold-plated Karl Lagerfeld star necklace with the sleek vintage leather top over Roberta di Camerino’s 1970s scarf dress in the first look. In the second, she’s femme-fatale fabulous with the matching leather skirt and our black and white La DoubleJ Editions Uccellini silk boy shirt. Fontanelli is the fashion police.

Vintage Hermès Trench Dress

In her final look, Fontanelli finds the sweet spot between work and play. Mixing a white relaxed-cut 1986 Hermès trench coat dress with a super-seventies floral set and 1960s Sicilian wheel ear cuffs she looks as though she was plucked straight from strolling around a sunny Sunday market. Come Monday morning match the coat with loose black trousers, a wide brimmed hat and a stack of vintage books: You’re off to the office with style!
