Think you know wellness in LA? Think again. The healer, breathworker and all-round goddess Millana Snow is on a mission to change the face of the wellness scene in the city of angels. And while she’s at it, she gives us a tour of her spiritual little black book of healers and energetic hotspots, from her life-altering 80-year-old spiritual counsellor to a rock ‘n’ roll acupuncturist.
“I have been meditating since I was four years old. I learned very deep spiritual practices at such a young age that I didn’t know it was uncommon and over the years I’ve studied different paths and religions. While I was exploring all of that I also lived a very colorful, wild life as a 20-something modelling in New York and around the world, so I have definitely had spirituality in all the spaces. I always joke that I found spirituality in the club, too."
"My own practice is integrated energy healing, which is a fusion of Holotropic breathwork and checking into the chakra system to see where there might be energy blockages. I take an account of where my energy is everyday using my breath in different ways. This is the breathwork practice I share with clients and teach to healers.
I moved to Los Angeles from New York six years ago, and it took me two, almost three, years before I found my people here.
There is a kind of brand to the wellness community that has flourished in LA in particular, a look and feel of what people think wellness should be. One of my missions is to explode that. I don’t think wellness needs to look a certain way, people don’t need to dress a certain way, or speak certain words to be spiritual or to be the real deal. I look for people who broke those boundaries in their own specific and unique ways to express what healing means for them, people who made healing real for themselves and in the overflow of that shared it with others.”

“One of the most expensive health grocery stores, Erewhon is the most LA experience ever - it’s ridiculous what you can find in there, from camel milk to a huge section of vegan probiotic products. But what I love about it is that it is hyper local. There are some great California state and West Coast providers and purveyors of food that literally make some of these products at their homes. Supplements, yoghurts, little vegan cakes - you will be obsessed with everything you find there. The one thing I always buy? I go there exclusively for this delicious cauliflower pizza crust that they make. I don’t know what is in it but it’s the best, and means I can make the perfect lunch in 15 minutes flat.”
“Carolyn has a beautiful practice in East Hollywood called Botanarchy, which is centered around traditional Chinese medicine and the use of plants and herbal aids. There are lots of reasons I love her, but one of them is her knowledge and reflections on the roots and heritage of traditional Chinese medicine - it is important to me to respect the lineages we are working from. Another thing that is really cool about her is that she is a writer. She is so poetic and lyrical and everything she does has a storytelling piece. I go to recharge my body after a big energetic experience, or when I have had a physical reaction but couldn’t get to the root of the problem.”
