La DoubleJ x The Socialite Family
A French-Italian Style Sandwich

A dash of la dolce vita. A sprinkling of je ne sais quoi. Tow of the key ingredients that make up the magical recipe for the brand new La DoubleJ for The Socialite Family homeware and furniture collection. Dreamt up by J.J. Martin and The Socialite Family founder Constance Gennari, the collaboration sees the French brand’s furniture, lighting, and home decor pieces dressed up in La DoubleJ’s signature pulse-raising prints, in a playful melange of Milanese maximalism and contemporary Parisian chic.

The brainchild of two icons of interiors with a shared passion for championing European craft and design, the collaboration was an intuitive one. “We met about three or four years ago when she was starting La DoubleJ,” says Constance, “and I absolutely loved her enthusiasm, character, and strength. The way she has of moving fearlessly into new territory. From fashion to lifestyle. Mixing things up and taking risks with her choices. I'm a big fan!” The admiration was mutual. “I’d heard amazing things about how much she’d grown her business, and I’ve always been an admirer of other female founders. We all know how difficult it is to start something from scratch, and it's always a pleasure to co-create and dream things up together.” Says J.J.

This Italian-French sandwich of styles isn’t a new one for Constance, whose father (“always dressed to the nines”) hailed from Milan and whose Parisian mother “could have been an antique dealer and spent her life at the flea market.” Constance launched The Socialite Family in 2013, looking to highlight how contemporary families live in creative worlds, emphasizing the sincerity and individualistic nature of her subjects’ choices and the atmosphere that emerges in their homes. “The family is still predominant today, but we talk about couples and single-parent families, and we're open to all kinds of people.”
This same “no one-size-fits-all” approach sits at the core of La DoubleJ ethos and is reflected in each piece in the collection, which is intended for minimalists and maximalists alike.
“What’s great about this project is that you can decide how much print you want to have in your life. So if you’re living in a mostly white apartment, you might purchase the little Divino Cushion in Domino, and that will be just the amount of joy that’s right for you. If you’re more maximalist, you might choose the whole couch, plus pillows, plus La DoubleJ homewares on top. We are in the business of joy, but everyone is allowed to take the dose that is appropriate for them.” - J.J. Martin

The collection sees the sleek lines and crisp aesthetic of The Socialite Family’s pieces, from the large Rotondo Sofa to the subtler Nido Quilt injected with La DoubleJ’s signature Italian ebullience with geometric prints like Domino and iconic florals like Big Blooms. “It was precisely this contrast of designs that I was looking for. I'm quieter than JJ when it comes to prints and colors in my collection, but I wanted some surprises and sunshine to lighten the mood. Mixing all the prints together is tremendously enjoyable, I think.” - Constance Gennari
When it comes to choosing their favorite pieces from the collection, both founders gravitate towards the gorgeous Gioia Lamp. “It’s such a great accent piece. It’s very happy, but also sophisticated,” says J.J Suffice to say, whether you’re simply dipping your toe into the joy pool with a cushion or a quilt or are diving into the deep end with the Libera Chair and Rotondo Sofa, this collaborative print party is one we’ve fallen head over heels for.
“I love JJ’s world because it’s sunny, joyful, and elegant! Her prints make us feel great…the result is strong, timeless, and goes beyond fashion.” Constance Gennari
